Several of his supporters, with his family and companions, joined the memorial service, which began with a mass at the San Nicolas Parish in Barangay San Nicolas, Cebu City, around 1 p.m.
A drum and trumpet corps likewise went with his funeral car, while his supporters wore shirts printed with Diaz's face.

Security was tight at the burial service, and individuals from the media were not permitted to enter the congregation where the mass was held.
A few supporters, who neglected to join the burial service, communicated their sympathies to Diaz, whom they said was caring to them.
Diaz was covered in a tomb worked at Calamba burial ground.
The said tomb is worth P200,000 which rejects costly materials like marble, limestones and tiles.
Diaz was executed in a shootout last June 17 in Las Piñas City. He has been labeled in a multimillion-peso criminal medication syndicate.
