The term ‘endo’ or ‘End of Contract’ is a term often used to refer to service contractualization in the country. It becomes illegal when an employee is hired under the ‘5-5-5’ scheme. In this case, they will lose their jobs five months after their hiring.
Donald Dee, president of Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) has been working with the government to put an end to this practice.

“The fight against endo will be institutionalize by way of a Department Order that DOLE will issue. Number one, we will be requiring all service contractors to get a COA. That’s one side. Then ECOP has already sent out or sending out that memorandum that will inform all companies that they should not sign up any service contractors who are not accredited,” he added, during 37th National Conference of Employers held on Thursday in Pasay.
He stressed that there’s no need to propose a law since it can be implement through a Department Order instead. Additionally, he said that the companies will be told not to hire service contractors unless they have COA.
Bello, on Wednesday, has vowed to end this practice by 2017.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, the memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the country’s emergency hotline (911) was also signed.
