After reading the story of a man who was mistaken as a drug pusher in Gil Puyat, a netizen named Christian Jay Bautista thought about an unconventional way of avoiding the same experience.

“His route is the same as mine almost everyday (sa work) where he got caught,” he narrated. “So I thought, what can I do so I won’t be mistaken even though I’ve never done drugs?”

Bautista is a freelancer in the advertising industry and he thought that wearing his NBI clearance around his neck might be “more valid than a cardboard”.

He posted the photo above on his Facebook page on Wednesday, July 20, which instantly received 12,000 reactions from fellow netizens.

He didn’t wear it when he went out, but many still found his post humorous—although it wasn’t really intended to be a joke. Some netizens suggested that he include a drug test on his tag.

“What I was thinking was that ‘what could I do so that I can show them that not everyone is a pusher, than I am just a normal civilian who is afraid of what’s been happening especially that I get off from work late at night,” Bautista explained.

Aside from wearing an NBI clearance, he suggested to always bring IDs and stay calm. “It’s up to us to handle the situation,” he said. | ASCS - FNPH
