The Palace said that the territorial dispute between the Philippines and China on the South China or West Philippine Sea will be discussed by President Rodrigo Duterte in his trip to Vietnam.

This was revealed by Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar revealed this during a news briefing in Malacanang on Thursday.

"It will be discussed, I’m sure," he said.


Vietnam is also one of teh countries claiming parts of the sea.



Aside from this issue, Andanar said that bilateral economic trade will also be a talking point during the visit.


"Malaking objective po sa ating biyahe o sa working visit ng ating Pangulo sa ASEAN, sa Vietnam at sa iba pang bansa ay ang ating bilateral economic trade," he noted.


Duterte was invited to Vietnam during the sidelines of the ASEAN summit he attended in Laos, when he had a meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.


The palace has yet to give a formal announcement on this. MJM
