Celebrity Mocha Uson defended her performing group "Mocha Girls" after it has received criticisms for performing inside the New Bilibid Prison.

During the House Inquiry on the proliferation of illegal drugs inside NBP, witness and inmate Rodolfo Magleo said that the inmates at maximum security enjoyed various perks and privileges supposedly due to lax supervision from Senator De Lima, then Chief Justice, and the Bureau of Corrections.

He called the institution a "Little Las Vegas" because there were concerts held inside.

"(These were) not ordinary concerts. Concert ito ng mga celebrities, mga famous celebrities katulad nila Freddie Aguilar, Sharon Cuneta. The Mocha Girls performed, [as well as] Ethel Booba. I cannot recall the name of the dancers anymore, and several comedienne, celebrities.”

Uson did not deny the allegations, but admitted that they have in fact performed inside the facility sometime in 2012 and 2013.

She questioned why the focus was on her when in fact several other personalities have performed in NBP.

"Ito po ay pomal na concert na dumaan sa tamang proseso. Marami pong mga artisata ang nagsho-show dun at nagbibigay pag-asa sa mga bilanggo."

She said there was nothing wrong with their performance since it was backed-up by BuCor.

"Binibigyan lamang ito ng kulay ng mga Anti-Duterete dahil kami ay suporter ng ating pangulo," she said.

She said the people should blame BuCor and De Lima for filing the permits instead.

When asked why the group did not accept payments for their performances, she said this is only their "nature".

"Natural na ako po ay magpe-perform ng walang bayad kasama ang buong Mocha Girls upang magbigay ng pag-asa sa mga nagkamali sa lipunan" she said. MJM
